五鹿砖图案，选自北大图书馆藏柳风堂拓片。《五鹿砖》，宋代范模制砖，图案印在砖侧，两边印有回字花纹。因鹿与“禄”谐音，福禄寿又是人们祈望的美好愿景，因此，自古以来鹿一直是中国人心中的瑞兽，也成为古代金石器物上常见的图案。

The brick was made in Song dynasty（BC960-BC1279）. The pattern is on one top side of brick mold. The pronunciation of the word “deer” in Chinese is the same with the word meaning of official’s salary. Wishing for beatitude, wealth and longevity were people’s beautiful vision in ancient. Thus, deer has been regarded as one of auspicious animals from ancient times. And the image of deer is used as common decorated pattern on ancient bronze and stone objects.
